Happy 2025, friends!
I’m a sucker for that new year buzz. It just feels good to have a do-over. There’s something so refreshing about the chance to reset, realign, and take a look back at what worked—and what didn’t. It’s a perfect time to set meaningful intentions and goals for the future.
This year, I’m not going to make the same mistake of creating 538582579 goals, and then get down on myself when I don’t accomplish them all. Ugh. Can you relate???
I was chatting with a girlfriend the other night, and we were discussing our “focus” words for 2025. I couldn’t narrow it down to just one, but I want to share my thoughts on the words that will guide my intentions this year.
Consistency
Ask any self-help guru (the first one to come to mind is my favorite Mel Robbins), consistency is key for achieving long-term success. Why? When motivation fades, consistency will carry you through. I have struggled to be consistent throughout my life. It is very on brand for me to start a project and not see it through entirely if I get overwhelmed. I’m a perfectionist, so my toxic trait is to quit when things aren’t perfect. That brings me to my next focus word…
Grit
Grit is defined as “perseverance and passion for long-term goals, especially in the face of challenges, obstacles, or setbacks.” This year, I’m choosing to honor myself by embracing setbacks when they happen and using them as learning opportunities rather than failures. Adopting this mindset hasn’t been easy, but the goal is progress over perfection, and that takes GRIT, BABY!
Discipline
Discipline is all about developing healthy habits so we can actually achieve our goals. It’s about more than just motivation or hard work; discipline requires exercising the mental muscle to create the systems that help us stay productive. Some habits I want to reintroduce into my life include waking up at 5 a.m., going to bed early enough to get at least 8 hours of sleep, and getting my daily steps in for mental clarity.
I’m keeping it simple this year. These three words feel interconnected. You can’t have consistency without discipline, and you can’t have discipline without some GRIT. (idk why I feel the need to capitalize this every time, but I’m going with it).
What are your focus words for 2025? I would love to know! Leave me a comment below or head over to my Instagram and let me know your thoughts!
Wishing you and your family a happy and blessed new year.
