I have loved journaling ever since I was a little girl. I still have my scribbled-up notebooks from childhood upstairs, safe in a dusty bin under my bed. Journaling brings out my inner child and grounds me. It allows me to dream and play, and it reminds me that my thoughts are important and valuable.
If you feel resistant to journaling, that is okay. I encourage you to look at this resistance and challenge yourself to understand what it is about the process that feels like a burden to you. Personally, I have gone in spurts of how I actually journal my thoughts. It feels nostalgic and happy to put my thoughts out on physical paper; yet life is so busy and I find myself doing this less and less as I age. Lately, my journaling has been through writing out my thoughts on my Instagram, and keeping little notes on an ongoing Google doc I call “Ramblings.” Finding a system of how you journal is what will encourage you to find the value in it. It could also be keeping thoughts on your Notes app or even recording voice memos to yourself.
We are constantly evolving and changing in this life. Nothing is permanent. As our seasons change, so do our worldviews, thoughts and opinions. The following journal topics will allow you to explore parts of yourself that perhaps you haven’t looked at in months or even years. Have fun thinking about these responses, and have fun making yourself a priority as you go through this process.
